  • Great Friday Brunch
I have been looking forward to a visit to Raffles for quite some time. We decided to visit for the Friday Brunch when we had family coming to visit. The Brunch is all about the Roast, and I have to say the quality of the food was fantastic. For the roast it really was the finest cuts, Wagu Roast, Roast Lamb, Rib Roast, (there were others but these stick in my mind) all of it cooked to perfection. And their roast potatoes they deserve a mention just for the sheer quality of them. They do have a wider variety of food including fresh pasta and pizza station for the kids, or grown ups I guess, the pizza by the way looked lovely. Everything tasted great. It is also quite a small venue which makes it feel all the more intimate and with the staff the service is fantastic, if you are lucky you will get Wilfred looking after you who really does know how to make you feel welcome. Great job by all the staff tho really enjoyed my experience here.
  • A great buffet for breakfast and lunch
Try the excellent Friday seafood lunch buffet. Service very good, staff super efficient, friendly. Quality food. Liked the Arabic, 'vegetarian' ans International breakfast options.
  • Worth a visit
Azur is the all-day dining restaurant at the swanky Raffles Hotel in Wafi City, Umm Hurair 2. It’s where hotel guests start the day…over breakfast. As expected from a Raffles establishment, the interior is beautifully designed; in this case modern, with whites and mirrors adding an element of airiness. In line with most restaurants of this type, Azur boasts a buffet which, even by Dubai’s OTT standard is respectable, running the full length of the restaurant. My family and I visited Azur for Iftar. The buffet is segmented into three: soups, salads and starters, mains (including two live cooking stations) and desserts (with another live station). This is not an Atlantis Kaleidoscope style overkill. Rather, the buffet reflects the Raffles bouquet quality with everything impeccably presented and of the highest standard. The Iftar had a very Arabic theme with a commendable assortment of regional favourites on offer. Stand-outs for me (and there were many) were the ingenious falafel-on-a-stick with tahina sauce fountain (see picture) in the starters section, and the chicken curry, Kibbeh in yogurt (Labniyeh), and lamb Ouzi in the mains section; the chicken curry was my favourite as it reminded me so much of my late mother’s curry (I miss you, Mum). If there was a disappointment, it was the desserts which, while varied, had nothing of significance which stood out. Service was exemplary, starting with the welcome which was pure Raffles, warm and hospitable. Our young waiter, Archie, looked after us as if we were members of his Riverdale gang. And restaurant manager, Mohamed Mora, and even the head chef took time to chat with me, inquiring what we liked…or didn’t. All in all, I found Azur to be a very respectable if a little pricy buffet, and easily among the better all-day-dining propositions in Dubai, definitely worth a visit. Waste NOT. Want NOT.
